About The Position

As our CDL B Driver / Diesel Mechanic, your primary responsibility will be operating company vehicles safely and efficiently on assigned routes. In addition, you’ll support fleet reliability by performing mechanical maintenance as needed. This role is ideal for a professional driver who has mechanic experience assisting with equipment upkeep.

Requirements

  • CDL Class B
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a level B mechanic is preferred
  • Skilled in using hand tools, shop tools, and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers)
  • Ability to follow established procedures, read instruction manuals, and wiring schematics
  • Must have basic hand tools for daily use
  • Clean Driving record
  • DOT Medical Card
  • Requires work performed in outdoor environments/exposure to variable and adverse weather conditions.
  • Exposure to noise, vibrations, jarring, fumes grease oil & chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Broom Sweeper Truck, Dump Truck, or Follow Truck as assigned.
  • Remove roadway debris including asphalt, concrete millings, mud, construction materials, and highway waste.
  • Operate attenuator equipment with arrow boards to help divert traffic around active work zones.
  • Perform required pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles.
  • Review scheduled routes and ask questions when route details are unclear.
  • Complete assigned routes and jobs within scheduled timeframes while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Exercise increased caution during inclement weather, traffic congestion, and construction zones.
  • Report equipment failures, near misses, or accidents to a Lead or Supervisor within 8 hours.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks as needed, including lubrication, fluid checks, minor adjustments, and component replacements.
  • Assist with mechanical inspections and troubleshooting under established procedures.
  • Identify mechanical issues and communicate findings clearly to maintenance leadership.
  • Support repairs involving hydraulic, electrical, or auxiliary systems
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities performed.
