About The Position

As an ER/ICU Technician Lead, you triage and assess patients, provide immediate lifesaving care under the ER doctor’s guidance, and assist with diagnostics, treatment, and hospitalization. You lead shift operations, assign tasks, and mentor team members while collaborating with staff to ensure high-quality patient care. You communicate updates, treatment plans, and financial information to owners, handle client concerns, enforce hospital policies, and contribute to leadership decision-making, demonstrating strong leadership, teamwork, and the ability to perform under high-pressure situations.

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) with at least 2 years of emergency/critical care experience, dedicated to providing outstanding client service and excellent patient care.

  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Provides on the spot training, coaching, mentoring and feedback to team members
  • Responsible for oversite of shift including directing shift assignments
  • Handling client complaints within shift
  • Involved in leadership decision making through check ins with supervisor, management and monthly leadership meetings
  • Ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures
  • Capable of handling high- pressure situations
  • Strong ability to lead a team and communicate effectively with staff and management
  • Provides excellent patient care to every patient
  • Triage patients as they come into the ER with appropriate medical decision making and escalation to ER doctor as appropriate.
  • Obtaining history and vital signs of the pet
  • Assist DVM’s with exams, treatments and procedures
  • Immediately respond to STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols
  • Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a Veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders
  • Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery).
  • Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing Instinct
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of financial and charging practices including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment and discharging patients.
  • Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients are receiving the best possible patient care
  • Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions
  • Attend department and staff meetings
  • Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness and organization of the hospital.
  • Other duties as needed.
