About The Position

Veterinary Referral Center (VRC) is a comprehensive, referral specialty & emergency critical care veterinary hospital in Malvern, Pennsylvania. We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for appointments, advanced imaging, surgery and emergency/critical care services. At our hospital, you'll be working alongside a large team of experienced & board-certified veterinarians with advanced specialized training who utilize the latest innovations in medicine and technology to treat companion animals. Our veterinary services include trauma treatment and critical care, medical oncology, radiation therapy oncology, cardiology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, dentistry/oral surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, MRI and CT, endoscopy, rehabilitation, and emergency services. We are looking to add a skilled Overnight Emergency Veterinary Nurse to compliment our growing, fast paced hospital. By joining VRC you will be supported by a team of excellent nurses and assistants along with experienced, board-certified veterinarians. We utilize the latest innovations in medicine and technology to treat companion animals on an emergency basis and/or long term ailments.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of veterinary nursing experience required, 3 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and IVC placement.
  • Broad knowledge of small animal surgery, disease processes, and medicine.
  • Comfortable with dosages and calculations, including CRIs and IVF additives.
  • Flexible, adaptable, self-motivated, and a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of animal behavior (fear-free familiarity is a plus!).

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency and critical care to companion animals.
  • Assist veterinarians in surgical procedures and anesthesia.
  • Perform venipuncture and IVC placement.
  • Monitor and manage patients during treatment.
  • Maintain proper handling and restraint of animals.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding treatment plans.
  • Participate in on-call duties as required.
