The Role: Chapel Haven Shleifer Center, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our REACH program. As an Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide supervision and support to residents during the overnight hours, helping ensure a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment. The Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP) monitors residents, responds to needs and emergencies, and collaborates with other overnight staff to maintain a high standard of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field or 4 more years’ experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities or developmental disabilities and some knowledge working with DDS and/or CARF.
  • Experience working with adults with cognitive disabilities and/or special needs.
  • Effective judgement, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with students, families, staff.
  • Cultural sensitivity and proven ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Adaptable to the flexible nature of the position.
  • Maintain in-service requirements as mandated by Chapel Haven Schleifer Center and department supervisor.
  • Valid CT driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support to residents in the REACH program overnight.
  • Monitor cameras, phones, and email, responding to inquiries and providing support to residents and their families.
  • Communicate effectively with REACH, SAIL, and ASAT overnight staff at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide direct support to residents as needed.
  • Document overnight activities and complete required logs and reports accurately and on time.
  • Ensure the living environment is clean, safe, and secure throughout the night.
  • Promote a respectful and supportive environment in alignment with Chapel Haven’s mission and values.
