This position, working independently and under general supervision of a Research Manager, Post-Doctoral Fellow, or Principal Investigator and following established policies and procedures, provides support to research studies being carried out in the Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders. The role involves using and trouble-shooting specialized data collection devices during laboratory or outpatient studies, primarily during overnight shifts but potentially including combinations of day/evening/night/weekend/holiday shifts. Key activities include instructing subjects on the use of study devices and materials, obtaining informed consent for screening and specific studies, collecting, organizing, and analyzing research data, preparing and updating regulatory documentation, creating REDCap surveys, questionnaires, and databases, and training and scheduling students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to resolve technical or research problems and issues and to interpret the acceptability of data results.
  • Knowledge of research protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs and ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and work cooperatively with peers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to research studies being carried out in the Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders.
  • Use and trouble-shoot specialized data collection devices during laboratory or outpatient studies.
  • Instruct subjects on the use of study devices and materials.
  • Obtain informed consent for screening and for specific studies.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze research data generated by the study.
  • Prepare and update regulatory documentation for studies, including IRB applications, amendments, continuing reviews, and study standards of practice.
  • Create REDCap surveys, questionnaires, eConsents, and databases, working with PI or post-doc on design.
  • Train and schedule students and other personnel in the use of REDCap.
  • Interact with patients/subjects with regard to study.
  • Coordinate in-lab visits.
  • Support and execute measurements of study parameters on human subjects while using specific equipment and assays during the in-laboratory, outpatient, or field portions of research protocols.
