The Overhead Power Foreman oversees the Overhead Line Crew on the job site, ensuring that work is compliant with installation and safety standards. They are responsible for managing the field operations, with a core focus on safety compliance, efficiency, cost management, and innovation. While onsite they manage construction activities to ensure company procedures are followed and compliance is maintained relative to all applicable local, state, and federal requirements.

Requirements

  • At least six years of Distribution or Transmission Line Experience, Excavator Operation, and Bucket Truck / Line Truck experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess and maintain a Class A CDL License (Required).
  • Must be able to work with hot line tools.
  • Ability to operate tractors, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment with proper training, licenses, and experience.
  • Must have knowledge of Overhead and Underground Power techniques and standards.
  • Must be able to perform and practice aerial bucket rescues.
  • Must be able to perform and practice pole top rescues.
  • Willing to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Set and line up utility poles, install crossarms, hardware, transformers, guys, frame poles, etc.
  • Install and remove recloser, regulators, lighting arrestors, air break switches, guys, sectionalizers, station regulators, station breakers, bypass switches, capacitors, cutouts, fault indicators, streetlights, and other types of special equipment.
  • Assist in connecting 3-phase transformer banks.
  • Completion of required paperwork daily, including daily timesheets, daily production reports, and customer pay sheets.
  • Management of large projects with up to five or more employees on a crew.
  • Perform work on energized and de-energized power lines.
  • Understand line feed direction and switch circuits in an emergency.
  • Rigs block and tackle for lifting heavy objects, lifts heavy objects with material handling bucket trucks and line trucks according to equipment capacities and manufacturer instructions.
  • Use and maintain tools and equipment according to industry standards and manufacturer instructions.
  • Perform all duties of all overhead job classifications.
