What you will do: Perform the operations necessary for the assembly or disassembly of Solar’s Taurus 70, Mars, Titan 130, and Titan 250 gas turbine engines, sub-assemblies, and/or rotating equipment in a manner that aligns with standards for safety, quality, velocity, and cost. Work from standard work instructions, engineering drawings, oral instructions, and established shop practices. May perform work operations under direct guidance where adequate information has not yet been determined and/or furnished. Recognize the need for Engineering support when given procedures will not work or the quality of components is questioned. Embrace safety culture and identify safety improvements to reduce the risk of injury or incident in the work area. Work with team members, other technicians, and/or Engineering to solve technical problems. Maintain training binder and records. Perform material routing and movement of turbine, hardware, sub-assemblies, and other material in compliance with material handling, movement, and storage procedures. Report and record discrepancies and incidents utilizing Solar’s standard applications. Maintain records and ensure proper documentation of assembly, disassembly, or repairs per the Quality Management System (QMS). Use all types of precision measuring instruments and devices, hand and power tools, shop equipment and machinery as assigned. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to promote safety, Solar’s 5S culture, and prevent FOD. Work individually and in teams to support production needs and continuous improvement projects. Work in a teaming environment by attending and participating in team meetings, supporting established team business goals, and adhering to the team’s ground rules and norms. Work required hours as requested to meet production and customer needs. Demonstrate proficient skill with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, drop micrometers, bore micrometers, etc.). Operate shop equipment, material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.), bench and hand tools, test equipment and controls as well as machines and inspection equipment in an overhaul environment. Perform rework of the nature and level of difficulty described herin. This is a 3rd Shift position A successful candidate will be assigned to a specific shift in one of the Large Body Value Stream Lean Workcenters (LWCs) based on experience and business need. This position will work in a manufacturing shop environment that includes: hoists, cranes, industrial vehicles, heavy parts, chemicals, and fluids. The environment may include brief periods of elevated noise and team members may have occasional exposure to external weather conditions. A successful candidate will be expected to flex within the value stream and learn all operations/models in Rotating, Sub-Assemblies and Turbine Build to support a strategy of employee growth and “One Team” philosophy. The right candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with fellow shop floor personnel, planners, and supporting departments (supply chain, materials, engineering, business/project management, etc.). They will be self-driven and able to balance concurrent tasks while keeping their leadership informed on risks and progress. Requirements

  • High school diploma or trade school certificate
  • Minimum two (2) years hands-on mechanical/turbomachinery experience
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate shop equipment, bench tools, hand tools, air tools, hydraulic lifts, and inspection equipment (micrometers)
  • Previous mechanical experience/ mechanically inclined, previous history with hand tools, primarily pneumatic tools
  • Familiarity with shop floor production environment and equipment
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and understand: engineering drawing / schematics, work specifications, and written work instructions that are written in English
  • Must have ability to read micrometers and other precision-measuring instruments.
  • Must be flexible to change shifts during peak production timeframes
  • Repetitive lifting/moving of parts weighing up to 25 lbs. and ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Work involves walking, sitting, or standing for various periods of time.
  • Basic computer skills familiarization
  • Willingness to learn new software, processes, and skills with positive energy.
  • Proven ability to maintain an excellent attendance record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Solar’s Large Body models: Taurus 70, Mars, Titan 130, and/or Titan 250
  • Build experience with any Solar engine model
  • A&P License or technical degree related to engineering/manufacturing
  • Associate’s Degree
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment
