About The Position
As an Overdrawn Accounts Specialist at Navy Federal, you will play a crucial role in managing specialized collection accounts, including overdrawn share savings and checking accounts, trust accounts, and association accounts. Your primary responsibility will be to collect on these accounts while providing detailed account information to members, resolving discrepancies, and mitigating potential losses to the organization. You will analyze and research problems related to member accounts and loans, ensuring that you understand the nuances of each case to provide effective solutions. In this position, you will be expected to obtain detailed financial information from overdrawn members and analyze the data to determine the best course of action for resolving overdrawn balances. You will work to collect on these accounts within a reduced timeframe, adhering to the policies set forth by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU). Communication will be key, as you will coordinate repayment options with members and document all interactions and plans of action to recover overdrawn balances. Additionally, you will provide counseling to members regarding budgeting and financial planning to help them mitigate financial hardships. Your role will also involve performing manager share transfers, waiving fees within authorized limits, and recommending alternative options for resolving overdrawn balances. You will need to stay informed about fraud and scam patterns to protect member accounts and recognize potentially fraudulent cases, forwarding them to the risk management specialist as necessary. Compliance is a critical aspect of this role, as you will maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and industry laws, regulations, and guidelines. You will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and the organization.
