About The Position

The position of Oven Operator is responsible for measuring and molding sections of plastics to sizes required for constructing signage.

  • Apply personal safety measures including utilizing the correct PPE
  • Ability to take measurement of a job (ex: using a tape measure, steel rule, tri square)

  • Highschool diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school training or certification
  • Prior experience as a thermoforming operator is a plus
  • Ability to learn the thermoforming and trimming machinery and demonstration of the ability to adjust machinery and control the production process
  • Ability to learn product quality requirements, and demonstration of applying that knowledge so that all parts being produced meet customer requirements
  • Ability to learn tooling components and how tooling is involved in the thermoforming process
  • Ability to learn job setups in machinery and demonstration of the ability to take jobs from setup into production
  • Ability to learn to operate a PVI forming oven
  • Forklift certificate
  • General construction methods
  • Hand tools
  • Overhead crane certification
  • OSHA general industry standards

Responsibilities

  • Operate a PVI Thermoforming oven, trimming machinery and support equipment
  • Form plastic backs and faces using PVI forming oven
  • Interpret artwork to select correct size and type of plastic
  • Set oven to correct temperatures for materials being used
  • Ensure both plastic and molds are clear of debris
  • Review artwork to ensure correct number of pieces have been formed
  • Make adjustments to production machinery as needed to ensure product meets customer specifications and to minimize machine downtown and scrap rates
  • Perform basic machinery maintenance repairs as directed by Plant Manager
  • Perform job setups on machinery as directed by Plant Manager
  • Lift plastic molds
  • Work in a very warm area that could reach temperatures over 90 degrees during the summer
  • Sets stops and guides to specified length indicated by scale, rule or template
  • Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction
  • Operation of the following tools in a safe manner according to OSHA and company guidelines:
  • Jig Saw
  • Sander
  • Brand Saw
  • Skill Saw
  • Forklift
  • Overhead cranes
  • Other miscellaneous hand tools
  • Maintain work area and machinery/tools in good safe working condition
  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications, using square, ruler, and measuring tape
  • Interpret blueprint and sketches
  • Follow the rules and regulations related to the safety of all employees working for the Company
  • Adherence to all mandated safety procedures including: driving policy, production area safety requirements and fire safety
  • Safety requires all employees to review materials provided by the Company related to any updates on safety procedures
  • Informs management of any safety related issues
  • Ensures safety of self and others through proper use and care of equipment/work area
  • Handles and operates all equipment in a careful and safe manner
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working order and stores them properly
  • Keeps all work areas neat and clear of potential hazards
  • Other duties as assigned.
