About The Position

Gross Mendelsohn, one of the Mid-Atlantic’s leading independent CPA and advisory firms, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Outsourced Accounting Services (OAS) practice. This is a highly visible, client-facing role focused on serving a diverse portfolio of businesses and nonprofit organizations. The OAS Senior Accountant will act as a trusted financial partner, delivering timely, accurate, and decision-useful financial information while supporting clients’ day-to-day accounting operations. This role is ideal for accounting professionals who enjoy variety, ownership, and building long-term client relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred
  • 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or a multi-client environment
  • Experience with month-end close and financial reporting processes
  • Proficiency with leading accounting platforms such as QuickBooks and/or Sage Intacct, along with working knowledge of CAS technology tools (e.g., BILL, Ramp, and other cloud-based accounting and workflow platforms)
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and GAAP-based financial reporting
  • Ability to manage month-end close and produce accurate, timely financial statements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting and workflow platforms in a CAS environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional presence with the ability to build trusted client relationships
  • Ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Client-focused with a commitment to responsiveness and quality

Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for assigned clients
  • Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger activity
  • Maintain audit-ready financial records and documentation
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients
  • Communicate financial results and insights clearly
  • Build strong, long-term client relationships
  • Review accounting transactions and ensure proper coding
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Support onboarding of new clients
  • Prepare and review 1099s, sales tax filings, and related compliance items
  • Support audit engagements and collaborate with tax teams
  • Train and mentor associates and interns
  • Review work and provide guidance
