About the position

The Outsourced Accounting Senior Associate position involves providing accounting services for clients through a multi-faceted approach. The role includes handling day-to-day accounting needs, overseeing outsourced accounting specialists, and serving as a key point of contact for clients. Responsibilities also include utilizing technology for real-time accounting, reconciling bank accounts, preparing financial statements, and providing analysis for high-level advisory services. The associate will participate in business development and ensure compliance with project budgets and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting services for clients from a multi-faceted approach.
  • Handle day-to-day accounting needs for clients, functioning as their accounting department.
  • Oversee and review work of outsourced accounting specialists.
  • Serve as a key point of contact on day-to-day accounting matters for the client.
  • Utilize technology to account for all transactions in real-time.
  • Reconcile client bank accounts.
  • Calculate month-end balancing and journal entries.
  • Prepare reports, returns, and other documents as required.
  • Provide analysis of accounting information for high-level advisory services.
  • Make recommendations on streamlining processes.
  • Coordinate activities to meet client needs within specified time frames.
  • Assist with training new employees and delegate work based on availability and experience.
  • Participate in business development and seek opportunities for additional services.
  • Ensure timely and accurate performance on assigned projects.
  • Maintain compliance with project budgets, turnaround times, and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
  • Prior experience with Nonprofit (NPO) accounting.
  • Valid CPA or CMA license preferred, or working towards obtaining one.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to notice issues.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of general ledger accounting and principles.
  • Ability to think innovatively and incorporate technology solutions.
  • Clear communication skills in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), QuickBooks, and various software packages.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
