About The Position

The Outside Salesperson performs all aspects of sales in his or her assigned territory to include cold calling, quoting, customer service, and closing.

Requirements

  • College degree in Marketing or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of direct work experience in an external sales capacity
  • Professional demeanor, selling style, and appearance
  • Solid experience in opportunity qualification, pre-visit planning, call control, account development, and time and territory management
  • Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales quotas
  • Operating standard office equipment, including MS Office applications, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
  • In-person presentational skills
  • Planning and managing projects
  • Excellent customer service
  • Meeting deadlines and schedule restraints
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
  • Dealing with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Developing effective working relationships with peers so as to work as a team

Responsibilities

  • Sells company products and services by cold calling, servicing existing client accounts, and networking in our industry
  • Performs professional presentations or demonstrations of company product(s)/service(s) while on site
  • Penetrates all targeted accounts and radiates sales from within the client base
  • Emphasizes product/service features and benefits, quotes prices, discusses credit terms, and prepares necessary sales reports
  • Generates and develops new customer accounts to increase revenue, by cold calling if necessary
  • Always maintains professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner
  • Actively manages call schedule to adequately cover assigned territory in a time-efficient manner
  • Uses marketing data using applicable sales management software tools to maximize sales efficiency and effectiveness
  • Achieves opportunity-based sales quotas
  • Reaches business targets through effective management of designated territories and physical visits to customer sites
  • Develops new customer accounts to increase revenue
  • Builds and fosters a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth
  • Develops ongoing, profitable relationships with customers

  • Builds and maintains ongoing awareness of new products and services, competitor activities, and other research

  • Continuously works to learn all product lines proficiently offered by the company
  • Takes an active part of company trade shows and seminars
  • Maintains accurate records, including sales call reports, expense reimbursement forms, and other necessary documentation
  • Takes proper care of his or her vehicle to ensure reliability and project a professional image
