About The Position

This Technical Outside Sales role covers the South West Twin Cities Metro, roughly to the West between Highway 7 and Highway 169 to the border of Minnesota. The Opportunity We are seeking a driven Outside Sales Representative with a solid technical foundation and experience selling in industrial environments. In this role, your technical curiosity and hands-on knowledge will be a true asset as you help customers solve complex real-world mechanical and automation challenges. This is not a commodity sales position, it's a consultative, solution-focused role where you'll partner with customers to understand their applications, recommend creative solutions, and build long-term relationships. Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of proven industrial/technical sales experience.
  • Demonstrated success in growing sales territories and exceeding targets.
  • Strong technical curiosity and a passion for learning new technologies.
  • Ability to think outside the box to solve customer challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical staff and executive-level decision makers.
  • Resilient, confident, and not afraid of constructive confrontation when needed to move opportunities forward.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently while being a strong team contributor.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow a defined territory by building relationships with decision-makers ranging from maintenance personnel to CEOs.
  • Identify opportunities and present automation solutions that bring measurable value to customers.
  • Drive sales growth through technical expertise, problem-solving, and persistence.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and learn new technologies to effectively position Hartfiel Automation’s solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with our engineering and support teams to deliver tailored solutions to customer challenges.
  • Confidently handle objections and negotiations while keeping long-term customer partnerships in mind.
