Interstate Power System's Altoona, Iowa location is looking for an Outside Sales Representative. Outside Sales Representatives fulfill a critical role in our operations. They are responsible for our full line up of Rental Equipment, Product Sales including but not limited to Atlas Copco, Thompson, ASCO, ABB, Taylor, Wenco, Perkins, Volvo Penta, Isuzu, Liebherr, Detroit, Allison, and MTU, as well as maintaining and increasing our Generator service contracts and all heavy-duty truck and off-highway equipment service repair work. They solicit new business and maintain accounts through face-to-face and phone contacts, developing networks and industry contacts, promoting our value-added products and services, and keeping customer satisfaction a priority. A company vehicle, laptop and cell phone will be provided with this position.

  • Actively promote parts and service sales of our heavy-duty equipment lines in the assigned territory.
  • Actively identify and develop new customer contacts to expand market share and sales of all products, services, and service contracts.
  • Assist customers in solving problems and provide technical support.
  • Act as a liaison between the customer and company as needed to ensure that the customer needs are adequately met.
  • Attend sales meetings and present wins/losses, leads, and sales strategy.
  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Computer literate with experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Computer literacy with the ability to learn new platforms such as Excede and Halo.
  • 3+ years recent/relevant experience with outside sales.
  • Experience in distribution, industrial and/or heavy equipment a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • A self-starter who can identify the strengths present in a location and utilize those strengths to develop a positive business plan.
  • Proven background in sales.
  • Clear driving record.
  • Available for overnight travel.
  • Ability to travel and function in all climate conditions.
  • Ability to use creative reasoning skills to generate and pursue potential sales.
