As an Outside Food Sales Representative, you will cultivate relationships, develop new business, and provide innovative solutions to customers, helping them achieve their goals. This position is based in Zanesville, OH. The role involves overall sales and relationship management efforts for existing and prospective customers within an assigned territory, including pursuing new customers, deepening existing customer relationships, and sales territory management. The first 90 days include comprehensive training through e-learning, classroom sessions, video roleplays, job shadowing, and peer mentorship to familiarize you with systems, products, sales processes, and relationship development strategies.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma/GED is required
  • 1 year of prior sales, business, or food service experience
  • Maintaining a valid, unrestricted state driver's license and a safe driving record
  • If applicable, must participate in the company vehicle reimbursement program and maintain required insurance levels
  • Ability to obtain your food safety certification

  • Bachelor's degree and/or culinary certificate preferred

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate relationships, develop new business, and provide innovative solutions to customers
  • Manage overall sales and relationship efforts for existing and prospective customers within an assigned territory
  • Pursue new customers
  • Deepen and strengthen existing customer relationships
  • Manage sales territory effectively
  • Research industry and market trends impacting restaurants within your territory
  • Identify and research prospective customers within your territory
  • Develop sales strategies highlighting Gordon Food Service products, services, values, and solutions, and present them to prospective customers
  • Visit all customers within the assigned territory on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis
  • Conduct business reviews to determine existing customer needs and identify opportunities for sales growth
  • Provide ongoing training to customers on Gordon Food Service product offerings
  • Identify opportunities within existing customer businesses where Gordon Food Service can add value through product and service offerings
  • Balance new customer acquisition with deepening and strengthening existing customer relationships
  • Coordinate visits to prospective customers and existing customers
  • Communicate order status and order processing updates to customers
