About The Position

SunSource and its family of companies represent 200+ locations and 3,000+ employees making up one of North America's leading value-add industrial distribution companies. We provide customers with products and solutions within Fluid Power, Fluid Process, Fluid Conveyance, General Industrial Components, and Industrial Service & Repair. We currently have an exciting Fluid Power Outside Sales opportunity available based in the Houston, TX metropolitan area. In this role you will develop new business while being assisted by our highly knowledgeable customer service team and supportive managers. The primary purpose of this position is to Win New Customers and New Business, while maintaining existing business. Achieve Plan and established goals in terms of sales, gross margin generation and company initiatives within a specific defined territory or set of accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Sales, Marketing or Engineering or a 2-year technical degree, preferably in Fluid Power, OR combination of related field experience and training.
  • 2+ years industrial sales experience with at least 1 year in fluid power sales.
  • Ability to establish and build business relationships, can achieve and exceed sales goals.
  • Experience with value-add sales, high mechanical aptitude, application and troubleshooting experience with fluid power systems preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Some overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve quota: Must be capable of achieving an annual quota, measured in gross profit.
  • Expand customer base: Prospect and follow-up on leads that result in new customers each quarter (OEM, Capital Project, MRO) within assigned territory.
  • Target account program: AM will be required to select annual target accounts to grow new business.
  • Conduct customer needs assessment: Prepare a formal review of each customer's needs.
  • Prepare customer proposals, make customer presentations and resulting quotations based on a comprehensive needs analysis.
  • Conduct effective customer negotiations to maximize profitability.
  • Provide customer service: Conduct ongoing programs with existing customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Cross Sell: Present and propose products and services available from other business units.
  • Utilize CRM platform to record sales metrics and opportunities on a weekly basis.
  • Identify and collaborate with proper internal resources to best meet customer needs.
  • Attend weekly cadence meeting to review leading indicators of success.
