About The Position

The Outside Plant Technician at Verizon is responsible for ensuring the optimal condition and efficiency of outside plant facilities. This role involves hands-on work with various types of cables and hardware, requiring a commitment to excellence and teamwork to maintain the reliability of Verizon's network.

Requirements

• Valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• CDL or the ability to obtain one.

Nice To Haves

• A related Associate Degree or 2 or more years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Placing, rearranging, and removing outside plant, including aerial, underground, submarine, buried, block, and house cables, poles, and associated hardware/fixtures.
• Connecting wires and cables to terminals and attaching/detaching various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
• Reading and interpreting engineering work orders.
• Performing construction work using designated equipment, such as digging holes and placing poles.
• Operating company motor vehicles of varying gross weights to transport equipment.
• Climbing ladders and poles, working aloft, perceiving differences in wire and cable colors, and moving/lifting items generally not exceeding 100 lbs.
• Working evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.
