About The Position

The Outside Plant (OSP) Lead provides day-to-day field leadership for Outside Plant Technicians and Installers, ensuring outside plant construction, service drops, and FTTH installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one year experience as an Outside Plant Technician or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of fiber optic outside plant construction and FTTH installations.
  • Experience with aerial and underground fiber installation techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and network designs.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must meet the requirements of pre-employment drug screening and comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy while employed.
  • Reliable transportation for getting to work.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in telecommunications or technical fieldwork preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise Outside Plant Technicians, In-House Installers and Contractors.
  • Assign daily tasks, prioritize jobs, and manage workloads to meet service and construction deadlines.
  • Offer on-site guidance, training, coaching, and technical support to field staff.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee material usage and reporting to ensure accuracy, minimize waste and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with operations and warehouse staff to support timely job completion.
  • Assist installers with complex or escalated technical issues.
  • Ensure customer concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to utility construction and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with municipalities, utility companies, and property owners to coordinate permits, access, and inspections.
  • Update leadership on job status, challenges, and progress.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and installation standards.
  • Assist with developing training materials and mentoring team members.
