We are currently seeking skilled Outside Marine Machinist s for a potential 5-year project in Norfolk, VA. This opportunity involves hands-on labor working at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, offering a dynamic and fast-paced environment for experienced professionals. Note : This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment will begin only if and when the company secures the government contract associated with this role. Overview : Maintain, repair, and install shipboard mechanical systems and equipment.
Requirements
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- 4+ years as a machinist, with at least 2+ years on Navy ships.
- Completion of a formal trade training program (trade school, military training, apprenticeship, or equivalent)
- Ability to read technical manuals and use precision tools.
- Ability to work 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd shift.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, repair, and align pumps, motors, and valves.
- Install and test propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
- Operate precision tools for measurements and alignments.
- Follow shipyard safety and technical work documents.
