About The Position

Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an Outside Machinist Journeyman to help support our operations. The Outside Machinist Journeyman is responsible for the overhaul, alignment, and adjustment of machinery equipment in place onboard ship; cut, shape, and drill various materials; assemble and disassemble mechanical parts according to technical manuals; clean and preserve parts; perform related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of ship layout.
• Trained in machine shop equipment, alignment process, and blueprint reading.
• Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Must be able to access and move around ship safely.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• US Citizenship is required.
• The ability to obtain a DBIDS credential is required.
