Outside/Inside Plant (OSP/ISP) Support Specialist
About The Position
The Outside/Inside Plant (OSP/ISP) Support Specialist provides technical support for installation, maintenance, and repair of MARCENT’s telecommunications infrastructure, including cable and wiring plants across command facilities. This role ensures reliable voice and data connectivity through installation, inspection, and repair of inside and outside plant cabling. With 3–5 years of experience, the specialist applies knowledge of BICSI standards, cabling practices, and plant maintenance to sustain MARCENT’s operational communications requirements. THIS EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; vocational/technical training preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in cable plant installation and maintenance.
- BICSI certification (Installer 2 Technician or OSP Technician) required.
- Experience in maintaining and operating computer systems and/or networks.
- Secret clearance required.
- Expertise in cable plant installation, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of BICSI and DoD telecommunications standards.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Eligibility for issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC).
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain inside/outside plant cable infrastructure.
- Conduct inspections of cabling and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Support planning and execution of modifications to telecommunications systems.
- Provide documentation of installation, maintenance, and repair work.
- Operate and maintain supporting computer and network systems related to plant infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures for cable installations.
- Assist with planning future upgrades and expansion of plant infrastructure.
- Contribute to after-action reports and lessons learned for plant installation or maintenance projects.
- Support training of junior personnel on cabling standards and plant support.
- Maintain accurate records of installation and maintenance activities.
- Archive technical documentation according to MARCENT procedures.
