About The Position

The Outside Income Tax Audit Representative at TaxAudit is a part-time remote role focused on providing audit representation for clients facing federal and state tax audits. The representative will manage audit cases from assignment to resolution, ensuring a positive experience for members while upholding the company's core values of care, positivity, and teamwork. This position requires strong communication skills and a solid understanding of tax law, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the internal team.

Requirements

• EA, CPA, or Attorney certification required.
• 3-6 years of experience representing taxpayers before the IRS and local tax agencies.
• Competence in tax law knowledge.
• Working knowledge of IRS organization and audit processes.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly regarding tax-related issues.
• Intermediate to strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage federal and state tax audit defense case load.
• Assist taxpayers in gathering necessary documents and information.
• Utilize electronic case management or tracking systems as required by TaxAudit.
• Organize documents and prepare response packages for submission to IRS and state taxing authorities.
• Draft correspondence and discuss cases and tax law with IRS and state agents.
