About The Position

Under general direction from the Facilities Supervisor, responsible for responsible for the maintenance, care, and modification of the grounds and landscapes which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered grounds keeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping of the Casino. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, unless waived by Human Resources Management.
  • A valid California Driver’s License is required
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.
  • Knowledge of the use and proper disposal of chemicals used in grounds keeping (horticulture, turf management, and floriculture).
  • Ability to read English language sufficiently to understand written work orders and instructions as well as directions for the proper mixture, use, and disposal/storage of cleaners, solvents, chemicals, fertilizers and similar products used in grounds keeping
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices used in grounds keeping trades.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, pra c tices, and equipment used in the maintenance of grounds and general construction activities.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safe w o rking practices, and safety precautions in accordance with applicable state, county, or federal laws and regulations regarding workplace safety.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Acc e ss, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).
  • Skill in the proper operation and maintenance of grounds maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Skill in operating hand and power tools.
  • Ability to identify and eradicate disease or insect damage to plant and turf materials
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the En g lish language both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds a n d with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in repair, maintenance, landscape, and irrigation fields preferred.
  • Fork lift operation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains lawns, grass, and plants where required.
  • Performs maintenance on grounds keeping equipment and tools, and makes minor repairs (within demonstrated capability) as directed.
  • Rakes and maintains leaves, and cares for plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
  • Determines the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas.
  • Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons.
  • Maintains the grounds and environment of a facility in a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and healthy condition.
  • May operate light trucks and assorted power equipment.
  • May require horticultural training.
  • Responsible for snow and dirt removal.
  • Receives work assignments via work orders; executes assignments, and returns completed work orders as directed.
  • Ensures maintenance tools and equipme n t are in safe working condition.
  • Notifies management concerning the needs of m a jor repairs
  • Attends and participates in reg u larly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of Casino grounds.
  • Report any safety related repairs needed in a timely manner to the Facilities Supervisor.
  • Must be familiar with landscape equipment, and pruning.
  • Must have knowledge of irrigation, sprinkler systems and their operation.
  • May be assigned to assist with general maintenance tasks, depending on the Facility Department demands and necessity.
  • May operate company vehicles or equipment as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required.
