About The Position

As our Outside Fiber Technician , you will be one of the initial points of contacts for our customers ensuring they experience a seamless installation process ensuring the highest level of customer experience is exceeded by providing an ultra-high-speed internet service. Essential Functions: Cabling testing and documentation (all media types). Installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems and networks. Working with optical fiber, etc. includes performing all cable pulling, suspension, fiber terminating, and testing in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other local regulations. Working as part of a collaborative team to ensure premiere service to our business and residential customers Helping with other business-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of installation experience required.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; college or vocational/technical training is a plus.
  • Possess a valid and clean Driver's License and have the ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Basic knowledge of fiber optic cabling and splicing techniques.
  • Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in using tools and equipment related to the job, including drills, cable cutters, splicers, and hammer drills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform tasks neatly and with high quality.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols, including the proper use of all personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in challenging environments, including extreme weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet, including climbing ladders and utility poles using gaffs, and working in manholes and confined spaces.
  • Must be physically able to stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods and consistently lift 50 lbs and carry 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Competency in computer and home networking; familiarity with audio/video electronics is a plus.
