About The Position

Under general supervision, delivers meals to homebound clients on a daily basis and sits with clients to provide information, assurance and/or comfort. Performs community outreach work and provides information to the citizens of Hobbs about the services and activities available to them through the Senior Center.ESSENTIAL DUTIES The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. This position is subject to the City of Hobbs' Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes one or more of the following: pre-employment testing, post accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent preferred with 1 year of previous clerical experience required.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Older Americans staff and the general public.
  • Ability to obtain WellSky database certification within sixty (60) days of hire
  • Ability to obtain Safe Food Handler's certification within sixty (60) days of hire
  • Ability to obtain NM HIPPA/Confidentiality Certification within sixty (60) days of hire
  • Valid state issued driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Actively seeks out and participates in community events to distribute information about our services.
  • Gathers and maintains resources for the other social service agencies that provide assistance to senior citizens.
  • Assist in performing client assessments and reassessments on home delivered, congregate, and recreation members.
  • Assist in data entry of those assessments / reassessments into the state data base, as mandated by the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department.
  • Assist with Transportation of members as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with families of program participants where applicable.
  • Answers the phones and receives walk in citizens providing information requested or directs them to the appropriate organization or person.
  • Prepares monthly reports for the supervisor on services provided as required.
  • Assists in sending out approximately 1,500 newsletters bi-monthly to current clients.
  • Provides follow up contact with clients that have not entered the center for a period of time to ascertain whether they wish to continue membership with the senior center.
  • Provides assistance to congregate meal participants by serving/bringing meals to those that are unable to carry their food trays due to physical restrictions.
  • Acts as a backup to the Luncheon Registrar and Kitchen Aide.
  • Welcomes first time visitors and introduces them to other clients.
  • Provides assistance to clients by putting them in contact with services such as medical fairs and parties.
  • May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.
