An Outreach worker responds to shootings to prevent retaliation and to assist family members of those who have been injured or killed. They engage the community, religious organizations and clergy, and local businesses through rallies and special events. Outreach workers also meets with high-risk youth involved with the program to set goals with an emphasis on providing educational and job opportunities. Additional services include drug and alcohol treatment, education and college preparations, resume building, job training readiness and referrals, anger management courses, and other resources to promote positive life skills. The Outreach Worker role provides the community with a resource that will assist the victims of crime, save lives and improve community safety by changing behaviors, attitudes, and social norms related to gun violence. Outreach Workers will work with victims of crime to connect them to services.
