Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 26,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. Its goal is to connect their clients to their respective audiences with a fresh and innovative solution. MDPR not only serves all of ASI’s internal marketing needs, but it provides the campus and local community with the opportunity to utilize their experience-driven, competitively priced, design and marketing communications services as well. Some of the services the team provides are logo design, brochure design, digital bulletin boards advertisements, and event/program poster design. POSITION DEFINITION  Under minimal supervision from the Marketing and Production Coordinator, the Outreach Supervisor provides ASI Outreach program oversight and supervision while directly supporting the Marketing and Production Coordinator with the coordination and management of ASI outreach presentations and promotional initiatives focused on improving retention and participation rates of ASI programs and services. The Outreach Supervisor performs routine and complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge, prior relevant experience, and considerable independent judgment and decision-making.  The Outreach Supervisor collaborates with campus constituents and regularly interacts with departmental staff and other ASI team members. 

Requirements

  • Experience with public speaking and/or promotions in a leadership capacity preferably within a university programming environment
  • Ability to lead staff that can be demonstrated through previous supervisory experience
  • Ability to react and lead calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain professional work conduct
  • Ability to make independent decisions and recommendations
  • Ability to adhere to work rules, follow directions, use time effectively and work productively without close supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population and campus community
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation using word processing, spreadsheet and other computer applications

Nice To Haves

  • Prior involvement with or frequent participation in campus activities
  • Familiarity with Associated Students Incorporated programs, event, facilities, and services, preferred
  • General knowledge of campus policies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, implementation, management, and assessment of the department’s outreach program
  • Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, scheduling, and supervision of Outreach Assistants staff
  • Plan and administer Outreach Assistants staff meetings and training
  • Creates and manages Outreach Assistants staff schedules including assigning staff for ASI presentations, traffic management rotations, and any other scheduling support for the Outreach team
  • Responsible for managing all ASI digital and print marketing distribution and rotation in all ASI operated facilities and various locations on campus
  • Develops ASI presentation materials and content, and trains Outreach Assistants on material
  • Responsible for the management, execution, and replenishment of MDPR’s ASI giveaway inventory
  • Provides setup and take down of ASI marketing booths at tabling events; manages preparation of marketing merchandise for ASI tabling events
  • Assist with the evaluation of Outreach staff, presentations, and services
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports
  • Present professional appearance and attitude, and maintain a high standard of customer service
  • Assist with department-wide training
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
