About The Position

The Outreach Specialist is responsible for contacting insurance plan members via phone to collect and document basic personal and coverage-related information. This role supports care coordination, eligibility verification, and member engagement efforts by ensuring accurate and complete member records. This is a temporary remote, work from home position. Ideally working 20-30 hours per week (40 hours preferred). Candidate would need to come into one of the following offices to pick up/drop off necessary equipment upon start and finish of assignment: -Dayton -Newark -Wooster Ohio’s Hospice offers opportunity, advancement and a great foundation for growth to energetic people looking to serve our mission. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to accurately document information
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls
  • Maintain a professional, productive, and distraction-free work environment while working from home
  • Ensure reliable internet connectivity and availability during scheduled work hours
  • Adhere to company policies regarding remote work, data security, and confidentiality
  • Demonstrate consistent time management, accountability, and professionalism in a remote setting
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Make outbound calls to insurance plan members in a professional and courteous manner
  • Verify and collect basic member information (e.g., contact details, demographics, insurance status)
  • Document all interactions accurately in internal systems or databases
  • Follow call scripts and compliance guidelines (HIPAA, privacy policies)
  • Identify and escalate issues or concerns to the appropriate department when necessary
  • Maintain call volume and documentation productivity standards
  • Provide clear and respectful communication to members, answering basic questions as needed
