About The Position

This position will join the Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies (CHESS), a dynamic, mission-driven organization with over 40 team members. This multi-disciplinary research center focuses on technology, process improvement, and organizational change strategies to improve coping, quality of life, and access to care for individuals and families facing chronic or life-threatening health challenges. This position will work directly with the Michigan Department of Human Services to implement Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) in 30 clinics in Michigan. The primary duties of this Outreach Program Manager include, but are not limited to: Plan, develop and deliver virtual or in person Motivational interviewing based SBIRT training for primary care and behavioral health clinicians and clinic support staff. Provide on demand clinical and process support to each site. Assess adherence to Michigan SBIRT protocols via simulated patient reviews. Provide monthly virtual coaching support to individual clinics – reviewing their SBIRT data measures and status of implementation improvement activities. Compile and deliver a monthly e-newsletter for clinics containing SBIRT quality metrics and an SBIRT data dashboard report for each clinic. Attend bi-weekly, project team meetings for ongoing project workplan review and continuous improvement activities. Write quarterly reports on SBIRT implementation performance of each clinic for the research project evaluator. The percent effort devoted to the above duties may fluctuate depending on the project’s and funder’s needs. This position's FTE % will be between 75%-100%.

Requirements

  • Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience training and coaching primary care and behavioral health care providers specifically in SBIRT methods, data measures and operational implementation
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in behavioral health or related field or technical assistance
  • Master's degree or higher

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the implementation of outreach-program-focused strategic planning initiatives and objectives
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • Determines outreach program needs and the personnel resource allocation plan
  • Reviews recommendations for and provides input on the design and development of new outreach programs or services
  • Monitors the unit or program budget and approves program expenditures
  • Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to promote the outreach program in alignment with the strategic plan
