About The Position

The Clinical and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the overall health, safety, and well-being of students, families, and the larger community at the Dr. Susan S. McKinney Secondary School of the Arts. This position involves community outreach and partnership building, as well as developing and reviewing health and safety protocols. The role requires working closely with school administrators and program directors to support students in need of social and emotional interventions, utilizing a trauma-informed framework. The coordinator will also provide professional development training for staff, oversee daily activities, and maintain effective classroom management systems.

Requirements

  • MSW required, LMSW/SIFI preferred.
  • Must work 100% in-person.
  • Comfortable working in the field.
  • Ability to travel to all work sites in Brooklyn.
  • Supervisory and managerial experience required.
  • Familiarity with clinical frameworks such as SEL and Trauma-Informed care.
  • Knowledge of early childhood, youth, and social service agencies.
  • Professional communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Ability to become SACC Certified.
  • Undergo pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review health and safety, behavioral management, crisis intervention, and clinical support protocols.
  • Implement SEL retraining program for staff.
  • Work with school administrators to identify interventions for students needing social and emotional support.
  • Provide professional development training around SEL, trauma-informed care, and classroom management.
  • Build internal capacity for ongoing SEL work.
  • Identify resources and referrals for students and families.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities and supervision of children.
  • Assist Site Director in planning and evaluating activities.
  • Provide outreach to the community and build strategic partnerships.
  • Assist with hiring, training, and supervising part-time staff.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Conduct participant intakes and ensure files are up to date.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with parents and the community.
  • Coordinate monthly community health fairs and events.
  • Run health and wellness workshops for students.
  • Survey community needs and develop programming in response.
  • Coordinate with other BCS programs for additional resources.
  • Assist in planning trips and leadership activities.
  • Make safety and risk assessments regarding students.
  • Assist in student mediations and restorative practices.
  • Participate in IEP and family team conferences.
  • Facilitate anger management groups.
  • Provide advocacy and coaching to students.
  • Participate in supervision, staff trainings, and team meetings.
  • Collaborate with DOE staff to address barriers to service.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention support.
  • Conduct parent/guardian meetings as appropriate.
  • Supervise MSW interns.
  • Provide clinical support and coaching for students.

Benefits
