This position is based in the Penn Frontotemporal Degeneration Center (FTDC), part of the Department of Neurology of the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. The outreach and communications manager is the primary liaison between the community and the Penn FTDC. Working with other members of the outreach coordination team, this staff member will focus on developing and maintaining relationships with community partners. They will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programming and events open to the public. Reporting to the FTDC Assistant Directors, and working with a team of scientists and researchers, this role is responsible for development and management of Penn FTDC editorial content (both written and multimedia) and its distribution across platforms including but not limited to the quarterly newsletters, The Penn FTDC website and affiliated websites, Facebook/Twitter/other social media. Working with staff members from all across the Penn FTDC and other related departments (such as the Penn Memory Center), this employee will coordinate promotion of training opportunities, public programming, and community outreach work. This role will require strong communication and organizational skills, cultural competence, a passion for community engagement and willingness to learn additional tasks that will further the outreach mission.
