ChristianaCare's Outpatient Imaging Department is currently recruiting for a Full-Time (80 hours over two weeks) Ultrasound Technologist to work the day shift at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. PRIMARY FUNCTION: To perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures at the request of physicians to aid in the diagnosis of disease or related abnormalities.

Requirements

  • Completion of two-year accredited program in Ultrasound Sonography is required.
  • CPR Certification
  • An Associate’s degree is required; candidates are required to obtain their Associates of Science degree (can be substituted within a related field), within three (3) years of their start date as outlined in the Education Agreement required to be signed as a condition of employment.
  • Yearly PEEPS certification required for proper and safe positioning and transfer of patients.
  • ARDMS Registered; Abdomen and/ or OB/Gyn certification required.
  • CPR Certified

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of Ultrasound equipment, radiology supported computer systems, and CD burners.
  • Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in ACR and state licenses.
  • Complies with Joint Commission regulations.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide technologist’s tentative readings as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in assisting physicians during invasive procedures.
  • Enters accurate patient study information into the clinical care systems.
  • Assist with the coordination of workflow and patient care activities.
  • Obtain clinical history regarding reason for examination, completes necessary measurement documentation, and obtains appropriate consent.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Assists in the learning process of students and new staff in departmental procedures and quality control.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills, acts as liaison OP Imaging department, clinicians, nursing, and ancillary departments to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to assess patients for changes in patient status.
  • Maintains required credentials for CPR, critical skills, and mandatory in-service education.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
  • Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development.
  • Provides excellent customer service to patients, family members, physicians and staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.
