About The Position

Job Summary/Purpose: • Ultrasound Technologists provide exams in the field of ultrasonography to include general US, small parts, and breast to the specifications of the ordering provider and radiologist’s needs. • Candidate will be knowledgeable in anatomical positioning and physiology and must be able to perform high quality ultrasound examination for interpretation by a provider. • Performs examinations in all areas of the ultrasound department that he/she is certified and/or trained to perform. • May be required to travel between MUSC Physicians outreach sites located in Mt. Pleasant and West Ashley.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Diagnostic Ultrasonography program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • BLS certification.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or ARRT(S) eligible, must obtain certification within 12 months .
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience.
  • 1 year of modality specific experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • PERFORM RADIOLOGIC EXAMINATIONS TIMLEY, ACCURATELY AND SAFELY FOR RADIOLOGIST INTERPRETATION
  • ASSURE THE RADIOLOGY SUITE AND ADJACENT CLINICAL AND COMMON AREAS ARE PREPARED TO RECEIVE PATIENTS/VISITORS.
  • SUPPORT CULTURE OF SAFETY
  • Ability to evaluate and appropriately respond to verbal and non-verbal communication from patients’ diverse stages of development.
  • Completes procedures following approved procedure protocols with sufficient speed to promote departmental efficiency.
  • Completes required documentation for each procedure, both computer and handwritten.
  • Demonstrates technical competence in the operation of imaging equipment, and the use of procedure related supplies. Complete knowledge of related physics, anatomy, imaging techniques and medical terminology.
  • Introduces self to patients, explains the procedure, assists the patient at the end of the procedure and explains the next steps.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in attitude, appearance, and communication.
  • Obtains pertinent history, verifies orders, and communicates effectively with co-workers and other clinic staff to provide excellent patient care.
