About The Position

The Outpatient Clinician position at Van Buren Community Mental Health involves providing clinical psychotherapeutic services to assigned customers. The clinician will develop person-centered plans, provide intake and crisis services, and complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments. The role requires functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure effective service delivery.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling with appropriate state licensure or certification.
• Experience or a supervised internship in therapy or counseling.
• Demonstrated diagnostic and case reporting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to crisis situations in a positive manner.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including the ability to be punctual, manage time and crisis situations flexibly and effectively, and demonstrate good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents outpatient psychotherapy for assigned customers.
• Provides and documents psychosocial assessment and crisis response service(s) for customers in need of or requesting agency services.
• Develops, implements, monitors, and documents appropriate person-centered plans and interventions with time frames.
• Provides crisis services, including counseling, linking, coordinating or referrals to hospitals, police departments, jails, and other appropriate community agencies.
• Attends case review and other treatment team meetings as required.
• Completes Review of Services/Request for Authorization forms, as appropriate or indicated.
• Obtains any needed authorization for services from either private insurance companies or agency Utilization Management system.
• Provides jail diversion services, as assigned.
• Consults with supervisor as a resource for problem cases and/or brings such cases to the Treatment Review Team meetings.
