We are seeking an Outpatient Therapist – Adult I/DD to provide evidence-based therapy to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities who are receiving Network180 services.  The Outpatient Therapist will provide support to psychiatric services clinic through clinical evaluations, referral services, coordination of care, discharge planning, chart prep and insurance authorization. All activities will take place either face-to-face, video meeting, or by phone. This position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. There are no weekends, on call, or holiday requirements for this position. This assignment is in person at 790 Fuller AVE NE Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503.

  • Provide evidence-based therapy to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
  • Provide support to psychiatric services clinic through clinical evaluations, referral services, coordination of care, discharge planning, chart prep and insurance authorization.
  • Conduct activities face-to-face, via video meeting, or by phone.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or Counseling Psychology, Certification or Licensure in the State of Michigan as  limited licensed master social worker, professional counselor,; OR the ability to obtain a limited license within 30 days of hire.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the practices and principles of psychological, emotional, and sociological assessment and diagnosis.
  • Thorough working knowledge of professional ethics and standards of practice.
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, database management, and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating clearly and concisely in stressful situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities.
  • Fully licensed MSW, or Professional Counselor, or Psychologist, or Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • Training in and experience with providing Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
  • One year of satisfactory work or internship experience providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and/or substance use disorders preferred
  • CAADC certification through the Michigan Certificate Board for Addiction Professionals or able to obtain a development plan for the credential.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principles, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions).
  • Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
  • For DBT therapists, experience providing DBT to fidelity as a member of a DBT treatment team.
