Requirements

  • First Aid / CPR Certified or willing to become certified within 30 days of hire
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have a driver's license
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Substance free for at least 2 years

Responsibilities

  • Ensure high standards of customer service are applied at all times
  • Transport clients to and from group and occasional appointments
  • Be aware of and follow all safety practices/risk assessments at all times
  • Attend any relevant team meetings and/or training to support continued professional development
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team
  • Understanding of working in a confidential manner
  • Transport passengers in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ensure that vehicles are cleaned on a regular basis (inside and out)
  • Inspect the vehicle daily and report any defects or damage to supervisor; as well as coordinate all maintenance of vehicles in a timely manner
  • Open and effective communication with Lead Transportation Specialist, Clinical staff and Nursing staff to coordinate effective and efficient transportation for clients
  • Adherence to Northstar Transportation Services policies and procedures
  • Strong observational skills - pay attention to clients and have the ability to take control of any situation
  • Ensure all passengers in the vehicle are compliant, safe and nonvolatile
  • Remain responsible for company gas cards and receipts
  • Ensure vehicles have a minimum of a half a tank of gas by end of day
  • Maintain proper boundaries with clients
  • Ensure first aid kit and emergency kits are fully stocked
  • Perform secretarial duties in between transports
  • Ensure site cleanliness
  • All other duties as assigned by the Lead Transportation Specialist and/or Director of Outpatient
