About The Position

The Phlebotomist performs various technical and clerical procedures within the clinical laboratory. Ensures continuity of workflow between patient and laboratory. Responsible for processing all patients who come to the laboratory for clinical tests. Ensures that patient samples are adequate in amount and that integrity of the sample is maintained. Prepares specimens for referral to reference laboratories and various departments of the laboratory. These procedures exclude any which are performed only by licensed personnel under state licensure regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successful completion of formal phlebotomy training program.
  • Current PBT certification ASCP, AMT, ASPT, or NHA.
  • Current AHA/ARC BLS certification.
  • Additional continuing education hours may be required in phlebotomy, management, education, or other related laboratory area of interest.
  • Proper documentation required.
  • Utilizes a variety of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Utilizes office equipment to include telephones, fax machines, copiers, etc.
