About The Position

Provides professional patient care and practices in Speech-Language Pathology by evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting treatment. Diagnoses speech, language, cognitive, vocal, and swallowing disorders by selecting, administering, and interpreting appropriate testing measures. Evaluates and treats patients per the order from the physician and provides treatment using a variety of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices intended to maximize functional potential in all areas of the patient's life. Determines the need for referral to other specialists and agencies. Develops and implements an individualized treatment plan based on patient needs and containing achievable functional goals. Revises treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process. Establishes and instructs patients, families, and other caregivers in therapeutic home exercise programs to be continued following discharge. Completes the appropriate documentation and billing in a timely manner. All care is provided in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the hospital, the rehabilitation department, The Joint Commission, State Professional Licensing Agency, and the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).

Requirements

  • Must hold a minimum of a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a school accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).
  • Must hold or be eligible to receive a Speech Language Pathologist license in the state where services will be provided within the first 90 days of employment or hold a license as a Clinical Fellow in his/her Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • Clinical Fellow (CFY) must be mentor by a Stated Licensed/ASHA certified SLP in the state where services will be provided and employed by Parkview Health.
  • If employee is a CFY, she/he must obtain state licensure within 18 months of initiation of the CFY.
  • Must hold Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) if not in their CFY.
  • Must be certified in CPR or must become certified within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must maintain all certifications and licensure according to the expiration date.
  • If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver's license is required.
  • If assigned to drive a personal vehicle, proof of insurance is required in addition to a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds, may be required to push up to 300 pounds.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience preferred, but not required, other than clinical experience within educational training program.
