About The Position

Under supervision of the Practice Manager, Rehab Supervisor and licensed therapists, the Rehab Aide, (Hospital Assistant 2) assists in the delivery of care to patients being seen in the practice, including direct and indirect support. Work includes a variety of personal care and basic clinical procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. They will perform assigned patient care and review of systems data collection in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices, including physical therapy, Occupational therapy, and Speech-language pathology practice. They are required to learn and be able to assist in procedures. They are required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by UCSF. The Rehabilitative aide actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, inservices and staff development activities. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $29.63 - $36.99 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • High School graduation and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
  • Prior clinical based experience requiring interaction with patients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to recognize signs of distress.
  • Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.
  • Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal, time management, problem solving, and self-initiation skills.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS-CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • Prior outpatient patient care experience working with sports medicine, orthopedic and neurologic patients in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Prior experience working in an academic medical center environment.
  • College degree in a related field.
  • Holds advanced certifications such as ATC, CSCS, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to use Excel.
  • Knowledge of rehab equipment including modalities, Alter-G, BTE, TRX, treadmill, body weight harness.
