About The Position

Introduction to the Role Centra’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Health provide important mental health services to our community through a variety of programs. We offer inpatient programs which include Acute Psychiatric Program for Children & Adolescents, an Adult Psychiatric Program, and a Geriatric Psychiatric Program. We also provide ambulatory services through Piedmont Psychiatric Center, Centra Pathways Treatment Center for persons with substance use disorders related problems and Consult Liaison Services with two hospitals. In addition, we have our new Psychiatric Emergency Center (emPATH) which opened fall of 2023. This is the first one in VA! CMG includes family practices, specialists, and surgeons in fields such as cardiology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, urology, and more. CMG is also home to the Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency, a training program for future family physicians, many of whom hold academic appointments with institutions like UVA, VCU, VCOM, and Liberty University

Requirements

Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training in Psychiatry
MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in physician's primary specialty.
Must be board certified or board eligible.

Responsibilities

Multidisciplinary, collegial team: psychiatrists, psychologists NPs and counselors
Robust, comprehensive behavioral health ambulatory services
Vacation: 5.5 weeks
Call is 1:14 and is mostly tele call
Overnight call is not for admissions; Nocturnist covers overnight admissions 7 days/week.
Weekend rounding only when on call; Hospitalists cover inpatient unit on weekdays
Inpatient admission call falls exclusively to Array (external agency)
