About The Position

Albany Medical Outpatient Physical Therapy is looking for a motivated and collaborative Physical Therapist to grow its team! Our facility provides a large open gym space, private treatment rooms, and state-of-the-art equipment including the Bioness Vector, Bioness L300 Cuff, Bioness BITS, Radial Pressure Wave, and much more. Areas of clinical specialty skill or interest in Neurology and Vestibular Rehabilitation are encouraged but not required. Staff experienced in providing care in areas of Pelvic Rehabilitation and Lymphedema are encouraged to apply. POSITION SUMMARY: Provide services that restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injury or disease. Restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree, (master’s or doctoral degree preferred) from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Must hold a current New York State registration to practice in the State of New York and current BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year clinical experience preferred in Outpatient Physical Therapy setting, but not required.
  • Specialty or Board Certifications in varied Physical Therapy areas preferred but not required.
  • New graduates welcome!

Responsibilities

  • Competent in the performance of essential skills for any physical therapist including those addressing all systems (i.e., musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, pulmonary, integumentary, GI, and GU) and the continuum of patient/client care throughout the lifespan, as defined in department policies and procedures manual.
  • Examine patients’ medical histories and can test and measure the patients’ strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function.
  • Apply diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Interpret, plans, establish and implement treatments.
  • Advise, consult, and teach appropriate treatment procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Develop plans describing a treatment strategy, its purpose, and its anticipated outcome.
  • Develop and analyze reports and data necessary for unit operations.
  • Complete and maintain necessary paperwork/case documentation to ensure accountability.

  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge; serve on committees as assigned.

  • Ability to be accurate in such matters as record-keeping, simple statistical analysis, and to use good judgment when performing the functions of the job or when interacting with others.
  • Ability to instruct and disseminate knowledge of physical therapy both internally and externally.
  • Ability to accept direction, carry out orders, to work cooperatively with others and to avoid the creation of unnecessary conflict.
  • Ability to adhere to AMC’s policies, procedures and practices, and to utilize AMC’s problem-solving processes for resolving grievances or disagreements.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve potential problems to ensure the continuity of appropriate patient care.
  • Ability to evaluate, monitor and direct financial aspects of clinical operation.
