About The Position

We are excited to invite an experienced, dedicated, and knowledgeable Contract Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM. The ideal candidate will have experience with IHS Contracts and play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients. Discover more about our facility here: https://www.ihs.gov/navajo/healthcarefacilities/shiprock/ Position Details: 8- week initial contract with opportunities for extension Target Start date, March 2026 Outpatient Pharmacy Hours: M-F 8 am -6 pm, Shifts are 8 hours, no weekends, no Holidays Must be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy program/school A pharmacy license within the United States is required Previous contract experience with IHS is needed for this contract A minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience is required Ability to work with any state license Experience the beautiful culture of New Mexico while enjoying excellent pay, a supportive work environment, and a healthy work-life balance Must be willing and able to pass federal security clearance pre-hire

Requirements

  • Be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy program/school
  • A pharmacy license within the United States is required
  • Previous contract experience with IHS is needed for this contract
  • A minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience is required
  • Ability to work with any state license
  • Must be willing and able to pass federal security clearance pre-hire
  • Have a Pharmacist degree from a school of pharmacy approved by a state-accrediting agency
  • Possess a current, active, unrestricted license from any of the 50 United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia.
  • Maintain continuing education/certification
  • Must be a US citizen, living primarily in the United States
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacist within the past 36 months,
  • Must meet all credentialing and background investigation requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous contract experience a plus
  • Previous IHS facility experience helpful
  • Hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Experience working in hospital environments, particularly in pediatrics, is a significant advantage

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret physician orders to ensure appropriate medication therapy
  • Accurately dispense medications and provide clear, compassionate instructions to patients regarding their use
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to monitor medication efficacy and safety
  • Manage inventory levels of pharmaceuticals, ensuring proper storage and handling practices
  • Deliver expert consultations on pain management strategies and medication-related concerns
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and pharmacy software systems
  • Adhere to aseptic techniques when preparing sterile medications
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams in hospital settings, including pediatrics, to deliver exceptional patient care
