Mental health is increasingly being viewed as an integral part of general health. The purpose of the outpatient psychologist position is to fulfill a needed piece of BCHC’s comprehensive care model. The psychologist will address the emotional and cognitive needs of patients that are recovering from acute medical illness, adjusting to disability, and/or living with chronic illness. Additionally, he or she will use their unique skill set to address challenges that impede progress in recovery. This includes treating children that are medically complex that also struggle with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and behavior problems, as well as essential functions such as sleep, feeding, and treatment adherence.
