About The Position

Position Summary: Patient Care Technician (PCT) support outpatient clinical operations by assisting providers and nursing staff with patient preparation, clinical support tasks, and clinic flow. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients during clinic visits and helps ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered outpatient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire or within 90 days
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, appointment-driven environment
  • Professional, patient-centered approach to care
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow clinical protocols and work within defined scope
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team

Nice To Haves

  • Patient Care Technician (PCT) training or equivalent healthcare experience preferred
  • Previous outpatient or ambulatory clinical experience preferred
  • Completion of a State of Nebraska approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet, room, and prepare patients for outpatient appointments
  • Obtain and document vital signs
  • Perform clinic-approved technical skills
  • Assist providers and nursing staff with outpatient exams and minor procedures
  • Observe patients and report abnormal findings or concerns promptly
  • Support efficient patient throughput to maintain clinic schedules
  • Provide basic visit-related instructions to patients as directed
  • Respond professionally to patient questions and concerns within role scope
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely room turnover
  • Prepare and review clinic charts prior to patient appointments to ensure completeness and readiness for provider visits
  • Accurately document patient information and clinical data in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Verify patient information during intake and update records as needed
  • Communicate relevant patient information to the care team
  • Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms between patients
  • Clean and disinfect equipment according to outpatient infection control standards
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional clinic environment
  • Answer phones and route calls appropriately as needed
  • Assist with scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming patient appointments
  • Perform other clinic-related duties as assigned to support outpatient operations
