Company Overview: Savista partners with healthcare providers to improve their financial strength by implementing integrated revenue cycle solutions that help control costs, improve margins and cash flow, increase regulatory compliance, and optimize operational efficiency. Job Purpose: The Coding Specialist will review clinical documentation to assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for Outpatient visits to meet the needs of hospital data retrieval for billing and reimbursement. Coding Specialist will validate APC calculations in order to accurately capture the diagnoses/procedures documented in the clinical record. Coding Specialist performs documentation review and assessment for accurate abstracting of clinical data to meet regulatory and compliance requirements. Coder II may interact with client staff and providers. For each client, the Coding Specialist reviews documentation to code diagnoses for hospital-based claims and data needs.

Requirements

  • An active AHIMA (American Health Information Association) credential or an active AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) credential
  • Two (2) years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience.
  • Requires active CCS, CCA, CCS-P, COC, CPC, CPC-A, RHIT or RHIA credential.

Nice To Haves

  • Meditech, Cerner and/or Epic Experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Code Facility Outpatient accounts - Same Day Surgery, Observation, Ancillary, Woundcare Clinic and/or Pain Management records for an acute care facilitates.
  • Abstracts clinical data appropriately.
  • Mitigates diagnosis
  • Tolerates short-term assignments for up to two different clients.
  • Participates in client and Savista meetings and training sessions as instructed by management.
  • Maintains an ongoing current working knowledge of the coding convention in play at client assignments.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
