About The Position

The Outpatient Coding Specialist is responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient encounters in accordance with established guidelines. This role involves reviewing medical records and collaborating with Resource Management staff to enhance the specificity of physician documentation. The position can be performed remotely or on-site at Jackson Hospital and Clinic.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Health Information Management or equivalent coding experience.
• Five years of medical record coding experience.
• Credentialed in Health Information Management as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, CPC, or CCS-P.
• Proficiency in specialized computer software such as 3M Codefinder and ICD-10-CM and CPT Code Books.
• Demonstrated ability to code outpatient records.
