The Charge Nurse position is an experienced professional who demonstrates clinical leadership and interpersonal skill proficiency. The Charge Nurse facilitates and supports the clinical and operational needs of individual ambulatory care areas in partnership with clinic leaders. This role involves leading day-to-day operations to ensure safe patient throughput and access to care, managing staffing according to patient needs, and ensuring fiscal stewardship through accurate documentation. The Charge Nurse acts as a resource for team members, ensuring adherence to policies and clinical practice, facilitating escalation when needed, and fostering a calm and productive work environment. They also support team members in professional development and problem-solving. A key aspect of the role is enhancing patient experience through addressing patient needs, service recovery, coordinating support services, and promoting effective communication among the team, clinical disciplines, and ancillary departments. Furthermore, the Charge Nurse is responsible for managing the care environment to meet regulatory and safety standards, facilitating team huddles, utilizing visual management boards for communication, and supporting efforts to achieve local and organizational quality goals. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
