About the Role: University Health Behavioral Health is seeking a Licensed or License-Eligible Intake Clinician to join our outpatient behavioral health clinic in Kansas City, Missouri. This full-time, clinic-based role serves as the entry point to care for individuals and families seeking behavioral health services for the first time or returning to care after a lapse in services. This position functions as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). In this role, you will complete eligibility screenings, comprehensive intake assessments, diagnostic impressions, and risk assessments with safety planning, while helping clients identify their needs and access the most appropriate level of care. Intake QMHPs also provide timely follow-up after the initial assessment to support engagement and ensure a smooth transition to ongoing treatment. This position involves close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and internal departments to reduce barriers to care and promote continuity of services in an outpatient setting. Who You’ll Serve: You will serve clients of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds, primarily from Jackson County, who are accessing behavioral health services for the first time or re-establishing care after time away. Many clients present with complex needs, including mental health conditions, co-occurring substance use concerns, physical health issues, and psychosocial stressors such as housing or financial instability. As an Intake Clinician, you play a key role in helping clients feel supported, understood, and connected to the right services.
