The position offers Monday – Friday daytime work hours, moving away from the fast pace, long shifts, and weekends often associated with nursing roles.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Previous clinical experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting is required.
  • Must be able to administer psychiatric medications, implement crisis management techniques, and apply therapeutic communication.
  • Must have working knowledge of mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and their impact on functioning and behavior.
  • Familiar with psychotropic medications, their effects, side effects, and appropriate dosing.
  • Possess attributes of empathy, patience, flexibility, strong communication, and be a team player.
  • CPR/First Aid certification up-to-date within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting patient data, identifying symptoms, and monitoring for side effects to treatments (Patient Triage).
  • Administering psychiatric medications and educating patients on potential side effects. Assisting prescribers with obtaining prior authorizations (Medication Administration).
  • Collaborating with psychiatric providers, therapists, and case managers to contribute to the development of treatment plans (Care Collaboration).
  • Responding to urgent patient needs and assisting with crisis de-escalation (Crisis Intervention).
  • Providing psychoeducation regarding symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments (Patient Education & Counseling).
  • Maintaining timely, accurate, HIPAA-compliant electronic health records (Documentation & Compliance).
