Responsibilities: GENERAL PURPOSE The OAS in CPEP (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program) provides clerical, receptionist and customer relations services while maintaining confidentiality. Monitors and assures that all functions are completed in an accurate, efficient, and customer friendly manner. Manage the flow of patient information. Is proficient at use of eRecord systems and is a resource to new staff. Responsible for monitoring own performance on assigned tasks. Self-directed: must make complex decisions independently and assist staff in complex decision making. May coordinate the duties of less experienced support staff. May train peers and/or less experienced support staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMS RECEPTIONIST DUTIES: Maintains telephone coverage. Demonstrates effective, courteous telephone manners. Utilizes service recovery concepts Relays messages promptly by assessing the urgency of the situation and accurately routes to appropriate the person Demonstrates accurate use of telephone system (i.e., transfer calls, use of intercom). Communicates and works well with other departments. Serves as front-line problem solver Greets visitors, families, patients and health providers in a courteous manner as they interact with the unit, giving appropriate direction and guidance. Treats visitors, families, patient and health providers with dignity and respect. Utilizes eRecord to verify patient status with approved requestors FACILITATE PATIENT TRANSER DOCUMENTATION OR TRANSPORTATION: Enter data in a timely and accurate manner. Facilitates patient transfer and discharge transportation when needed Taxi Ambulance Bus passes MAINTAINS PATIENT RECORDS LEGIBLY AND ACCURACTELY: Completes initial PSYCKES check, prints clinical summary, or initiates the consent process Disassembles patient record upon discharge or admit to inpatient unit. Faxes pertinent information according to nurse’s or provider’s direction. Copies and faxes essential information to aftercare providers. Ensure all chart information is completed before processing. TRAINING: Provides training to other clerical staff on all aspects of department-specific work, including orientation to registration and customer service. Acts as information resource for all departmental staff in regard to reception activities. Attends educational programs for department at direction of supervisor. Other duties as assigned. Call in facility and environmental services work orders. Facilitate the orders for the stocking of the kitchen and rarely special dietary requests for patients.
